Scientastic Summer Camp (FAQ)
June 2nd thru August 1st (M-F 9:00AM-4:00PM)

Only 10 spaces available each week. Small class sizes lend to a better learning environment
There are NO added fees.
Early drop off and late pickup are available.
Students take home their creations.
Refrigerator and Microwave are available for lunches
Refunds are NOT available (We have to plan and purchase well ahead of time)
Tuition is $400 per week per student

Rocket week June 3-7
Start the summer off with a bang. (or at least a WHOOSH) This week is all about rocketry. Learn to design, build and launch 5 different types of rockets. As well as enjoy the movie Apollo 13 with explanations by a person who personally knows several of the actual people involved in the space program at the time.

Cooking With Chemistry June 10-14
If you like good food and would also like to learn the chemistry behind what is happening to make these tasty treats come together, you will defiantly want to be here for this week. We will explore everything from Flavor Science to Molecular Gastronomy. Learning about every aspect while making treats from soft pretzels to authentic home made Ramen.

Week 3 Soldering/Electronics June 17-21
A fascinating week of not only learning to solder but how circuitry works and the components used in modern electronics. We will learn how to use all of the tools involved as we build our skills from assembling circuit boards to surface mounting LED's.

Week 4 Robot Arms/ Hydraulic Movement
June 24 - 28
This is an intense week of engineering. If you would like to understand the mechanics of movement and get a chance to try your design ideas verses others like you in a competition with your peers, this week is for you. Build a multi-axis hydraulically controlled robotic arm. Then use it to try to flip your opponent while they are trying to do the same with you.

Week 5 Fireworks July 1,2,3 and 5
(this is a 4 day week due to the holiday)
We are charging a full weeks admission due to the cost of materials involved
Another week of exploring chemistry with a little bit of flash and sizzle. Start with building a strong understanding of lab safety. Then move on to creating Snakes, Smoke Bombs and Sparklers. You can show your creations off to family and friends on the 4th of July.

Week 6 DNA and Genetics July 8-12
Phenotypes, Genotypes and free Radicals OH MY! Do you want to know more? Lets explore the principles of Genetics while creating your own marionette creatures based how genetic probability affects the outcomes. Learn the chemical processes used to extract DNA and so much more.

Week 7 Catapults and Crossbows June 15-19
Another fun and complex week of building. Learn to create several catapult designs as well as a fully functioning crossbow. (Don't worry we use straws with eraser tips as ammunition) Another favorite from years past. This week will build your skills in design and construction with a little destruction.

Week 8 3D Modeling July 22-26
Join the fascinating world of 3D modeling. Learn the ins and outs of 3D CAD design. Everything from base creation to geometric subtraction. We will explore the tools used and use them to effectively design and print them on one of our printers.
